FC Schalke 04 is driving its squad planning forward and is on the verge of its next summer transfer. The next new signing is set to be Kevin Müller, who already switched to Gelsenkirchen on loan from 1. FC Heidenheim in the winter. The 35-year-old quickly convinced the decision-makers as a reliable replacement for regular goalkeeper Loris Karius. Müller stood in for the former Liverpool goalkeeper four times in the second half of the season and made a positive impression. Other players like Satoshi Tanaka and Junior Adamu have already been signed. FC Schalke 04 is planning with Karius and Müller for the Bundesliga. Loris Karius remains the undisputed number one and extended his contract prematurely until 2028. The promotion hero is even set to become one of the top earners in the Schalke squad in the future. Director of Professional Football Youri Mulder praised the goalkeeper after his contract extension: With his consistently strong performances, Loris has made a significant contribution to the success as a reliable backup. Karius himself is looking forward to the new season: I'm really looking forward to the new season and the return to the Bundesliga. Behind Karius and Müller, two promising young goalkeepers, Luca Podlech and Johannes Siebeking, are ready. However, one of the two talents is to be loaned out to gain regular match practice. This would largely complete the goalkeeper planning for the Royal Blues' return to the Bundesliga. Kevin Müller himself recently made no secret of his desire to stay with Schalke. It's no secret that I could very well imagine staying. I'm happy with how I've been received, it was very warm from day one, the veteran explained in May. The goalkeeper hierarchy at the Royal Blues seems to be clearly regulated for the upcoming Bundesliga season anyway.
