FC Schalke 04 is facing an important members' meeting on July 18, which will decide the future of supervisory board chairman Axel Hefer. The Schalker Fan-Club Verband, representing around 850 registered fan clubs with approximately 56,000 members, has issued a voting recommendation for the upcoming meeting for the first time and is speaking out in favor of electing challengers Malte Stuckmann and Michael Esken.

Who is the Schalker Fan-Club Verband?

The SFCV is the largest fan association of FC Schalke 04 and represents the interests of around 56,000 members. The association has a cooperation agreement with the club, which was extended by one year until 2027 at the end of June.

Why does the SFCV want to oust the Schalke boss?

The SFCV warns of a loss of power and threatened alienation, as changes to the statutes could weaken the fan representative on the supervisory board. The association wants to prevent the centralization of power in a few hands and is therefore calling for the resignation of Axel Hefer and Holger Brauner.

What comes next?

The members' meeting on July 18 will decide whether Axel Hefer and Holger Brauner will retain their positions or whether Malte Stuckmann and Michael Esken will become new supervisory board chairmen. FC Schalke 04 is currently in 1st place in the 2. Bundesliga with 70 points and a record of 21 wins, 7 draws, and 6 losses from 34 games, which provides a good starting position for the upcoming decisions.
