FC Schalke 04 has raised the prices of all new jerseys – and fans aren’t happy. The lime-green away kit now costs €99.95, up from €89.95, while the home and third shirts follow suit. Adding a player name and the Bundesliga logo pushes the price to €116.90. The hike follows Adidas’s recommended pricing, which Schalke initially resisted last season.

Why the price jump?

The club cites Adidas’s official pricing policy as the reason. Last year, the kit supplier sold Schalke’s shirts in its own shop for €100. Schalke held off then to avoid fan backlash after two poor seasons. Now, with the team on an upward trajectory, the club has aligned with the recommendation. No Bundesliga jersey currently tops €100, but Schalke’s move still stings.

Seven other top-flight clubs charge around €100 per shirt, all Adidas partners including Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Hamburger SV. Frankfurt is the exception: members pay just €80. The two promoted sides, Elversberg and Paderborn, charge €90 and €85 respectively.

Fan reactions to the price hike

Fans are voicing frustration over the steep increase, questioning whether the quality justifies the cost. Yet there’s no groundswell of protest so far. One factor may be that most Adidas clubs in the Bundesliga charge similar prices – high costs are becoming the norm.

The lime-green away kit itself is dividing opinion. Some fans love the bold look; others call it garish. The club unveiled the design on Saturday, sparking immediate debate.

Good news on Hasan Kuruçay

During Saturday’s pre-season loss to SC Verl (1:2), defender Hasan Kuruçay (28) limped off with a tight thigh muscle. Coach Miron Muslic (43) struck a reassuring tone: “It’s not serious. He felt something earlier, the muscle tightened. We didn’t want to take a risk.”

Kuruçay is expected to recover quickly, easing concerns over his availability for the upcoming fixtures.

As of 13 July 2026, Schalke lead the 2. Bundesliga with 70 points from 34 games and a +19 goal difference. They sit eight points clear of SV Elversberg. Their last match, a 1:0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig, came on 17 May 2026. Over the last five games, Schalke have won three and lost two – their recent form reads WWLLW.
