FC Schalke 04 has announced their first signing for the upcoming 2026/2027 Regionalliga season. Defender Felix Meyer is joining the U23 team from Alemannia Aachen and will be part of the team coached by Jakob Fimpel. The 23-year-old will not only make an impact on the pitch but also take on responsibility within the team. "I'm very happy that Felix has chosen Schalke. He will not only help us on the pitch but also take on a significant role as a leader. Felix has a good dynamic, can defend intensively and has strong qualities in playing with the ball", says Fimpel about his first summer signing. With Meyer, Schalke is securing the services of a defender who, despite being young, already has a wealth of experience in the senior ranks. Meyer's footballing education was at RB Leipzig, where he went through the renowned youth teams and gained valuable experience in the U17 and U19 Bundesliga. Meyer made the step into senior football in 2021 with BFC Dynamo. In Berlin, he developed into a regular in the Regionalliga Nordost and played numerous games at a high level over three seasons. His consistent performances eventually caught the attention of Alemannia Aachen, who signed him in the summer of 2024. With the Kaiserstädtern, Meyer made the leap into professional football. In the last season, he played 18 games in the 3. Liga and gained further important experience at the national level. Now follows the move to Gelsenkirchen, where he will take the next step in his career with the U23 team. Meanwhile, six players have left the reserve team of FC Schalke 04 II: Paul Pöpperl, Max Hauswirth, Jean-Paul Ndiaye, In-gyom Jung, Bojan Potnar and Raphael Ott (all unknown destination).
