FC Schalke 04 has made a significant transfer move. Junior Adamu joins the club from SC Freiburg, strengthening the team's offense. "With Junior, we've signed a player who meets the requirements of our playing style. He works hard against the ball and provides his teammates with deep, fast runs. Junior is a team player who can show his strengths on multiple attacking positions and in different game systems," says Schalke's Director of Football Youri Mulder. "In every conversation, it became clear to me why the coach and the sports management want me in their team. The trust of the responsible parties and the clear playing style were ultimately the reasons for me to play for this club with its enthusiastic fans," says Junior Adamu. Born in Kano, Nigeria, Junior Adamu moved to Austria at the age of one. In his youth, he played for Grazer Sportvereinigung Wacker and Grazer AK. He then went through all the youth teams at RB Salzburg and played for the farm team, FC Liefering, in the second Austrian league. The club's management loaned him to the Swiss top-flight club FC St. Gallen in the second half of the 2020/21 season. Adamu went on to play 84 times in national and international competitions for RB Salzburg, winning two Austrian league titles, scoring 23 goals, and providing 11 assists. The SC Freiburg signed the Austrian international in 2023. For the Breisgauers, the attacking player played 67 games, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.
