FC Schalke 04 has signed Japanese midfielder Satoshi Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The transfer is expected to be completed soon. Tanaka played only half a season for Fortuna Düsseldorf before joining Schalke. The midfielder was at the top of the wish list of S04 coach Miron Muslic and was personally observed by him in the season finale. Tanaka had several transfer options, but ultimately chose to join Schalke. The transfer was made possible because Fortuna Düsseldorf was relegated to the 3rd division and the exit clause of 10 million euros was reduced to 1 million euros.
