FC Schalke 04 has signed 16-year-old attacking talent Timo Wiesner from FC St. Gallen. The Swiss U17 international will join the club's U19 team in the upcoming season. Wiesner has already played a key role in the U19 team of FC St. Gallen in the past season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 22 league appearances. He is considered one of the top talents of his age group in Switzerland. Schalke's U19 coach Norbert Elgert is impressed with his new signing. "It's great that Timo has chosen to join S04 and our way. Timo is a Swiss youth international and has already played in the U19 team of FC St. Gallen in the past season. He is quick, goal-oriented and works hard against the ball. I'm looking forward to our time together," said the experienced coach. Wiesner began his football education at FC Gossau before joining FC St. Gallen in 2024. He has gained experience in both the U17 and U19 teams at FC St. Gallen. He is also part of the Swiss U17 national team and has already made several appearances for the national team. His move to Gelsenkirchen will take place after the end of the season with his current club. Currently, Wiesner is fighting with the U19 team of FC St. Gallen for a place in the final of the Swiss championship. In the first leg of the semi-final against FC Zürich, he scored the equalizer in a 1-2 defeat. For Schalke, Wiesner is already the third new signing for the U19 team. The Knappenschmiede is facing a major overhaul as many players will leave the age group due to age. With the Swiss, the Königsblauen have now signed a promising attacking talent for the future.
